Upside Down With Chris Brown-Inversion Workshop

Please come dressed to practice, bring an open mind and willing attitude, and bring something to take notes if you wish.


Join Chris for an afternoon exploring active inversions. This workshop by its subject matter is vigorous yet open to all. The point is to get upside down and let go of anxiety and weakness. Learn how to prepare, how to strengthen, what parts of the body to emphasize. We will work through a vinyasa practice to warm the body and prepare for getting upside down...then proceed with active inversions such as forearm balance and handstand, taking time to explain and answer your questions. We will then cool down and move into detailed instruction of more introspective inversions such as headstand and shoulder stand. Please e-mail: Chris if you have injuries that you believe may affect you or if you have glaucoma, are pregnant, or have high blood pressure and are still interested in attending.

Beginner's Yoga Workshop

Please come dressed to practice, bring an open mind and willing attitude, and bring something to take notes if you wish.


Have you always wanted to try yoga but were intimidated by it? Is yoga class a bit confusing, or does it seem to move too fast? Haven't figured out what the teacher means when they say down dog?

Then this is your workshop. It is suitable for those new to yoga or for those who would like to work on developing their home practice. All levels of health and fitness are welcome!


We will begin with a discussion on the definition of yoga, a basic history, practice goals and breath work. We will continue with a multi-level teaching practice. Learn a few different sun salutations and breathing techniques. Some of the most standard postures will be taught in depth rather than the usual fast flow. Take your time, and rest when you need. We will end our afternoon with a final reflection and question and answer period. We look forward to seeing you soon!


Chris Brown completed his 200 hour teacher training at North Main Yoga in 2008 and his 500 hour certification at the Asheville Yoga Center in 2009. He teaches All Levels and Gentle Vinyasa, Yin and Meditation classes at Dharma.
